Welcome to the first newsletter of 2007.

For Diners Club, 2007 brings with it a highly motivated group
of new and experienced team members, ready to support and
deliver on our new pay-off line – “enabling solutions”.
This year will also see the introduction and rollout of new
corporate travel and entertainment solutions in line with
the changing face of the travel industry. The advent of low-cost
carriers and the need for Corporate online booking tools provides
one such challenge.
We will also be focussing our efforts on strengthening existing relationships across our customer base by identifying further customer requirements, tailoring solutions and streamlining our Customer Relationship Management.
We look forward to being of continued service to and working with you as this year’s many promises and challenges unfold.

In our first newsletter, in November, we spoke about the launch our new online service called Diners Club Advantage.
In case you missed it, Diners Club Advantage is our new online business services application which gives all Corporate and Air Travel Card users access to their statements online at any time.
We are certain that Diners Club Advantage will make your lives easier, by providing you with even more convenience, improved efficiency and increased user flexibility.
Over the next few months we will be creating as much awareness
around Diners Club Advantage as possible, as well as encourage
you to make use of this additional value added benefit. A
specific section of our website, called the “Diners
Club Advantage Resource Centre”, has therefore been
dedicated to Diners Club Advantage. In this section you will
find downloadable training manuals, short demonstrations on
what the new product enhancement looks like and what it can

DINERS CLUB PRO-AM GOLF TOURNAMENTS |
Having so many of our Personal Card members involved with and enjoying golf as a leisure activity, Diners Club are committed to golf locally and internationally through sponsorship and tournament organisation.
One such event is the Diners Club Pro-Am Classic, an ideal opportunity for our Personal Card members to test their mettle against other members from around the world. This event is an annual event that constitutes the Grand Finalé at which the three amateur winners of the regional Diners Club Golf Tournaments compete alongside a carefully chosen professional for the Diners Club International Pro-Am Classic trophy.
First held in 1992, the tournament has since grown into one of the biggest and most successful events across the Diners Club global network. It is therefore with great delight that we announce that the next Diners Club Pro-Am Classic Tournament will be held at Sun City from Monday 29 October to Friday 2 November, 2007.

WINNING WINEMAKERS |
Since the establishment of the Diners Club Winemaker of the Year Awards in 1981, it has become one of the most important events on the local wine calendar. This year the category was Chardonnay, which remains to be the most popular white wine variety, worldwide.
A total of 127 entries were received, of which 58, ranging from 2002 to 2006 vintages, made it past the first round.
This year’s coveted title of Winemaker of the Year went to Franschhoek winemaker, Gottfried Mocke, for his Chamonix Chardonnay Reserve 2005.
As for the Diners Club Young Winemaker of the Year Awards, which has been running since 2001 and is open to winemakers aged 30 years and younger, this year’s category was Dry Red Wines. The competition attracted 62 entries, comprising an interesting variety of blended and single varietal reds.
The winner was Francois Agenbag with his 2004 Seven Oaks 6+1 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz. Francois created this blend at Mountain Ridge in the Wolseley, Breedekloof region and the wine triumphed on the basis of complexity and maturity.
Excellent news all-round for winemakers and wine lovers alike is the fact that Diners Club International is committed to continuing its encouragement of South African winemakers in their quest to produce fine wine of ever-increasing quality. Cheers! |
