ITMSA Conference 2008
ITMSA (Institute of Travel Management Southern Africa) recently
held their annual conference at the O. R. Tambo Conference Centre
situated in the Birchwood Hotel.
ITMSA is the professional body for buyers, managers and suppliers
of business travel in Southern Africa. It is a fully affiliated
region of the ITM (UK & Ireland) and was formed in 2006
to encourage dialogue and open debate between all parties involved
in business travel management.
The focus of the conference was on the ’Business of Business
Travel’ and included panel discussions on the future of
low cost airlines as well as self booking tools. Speaker topics
covered hotel trends, African Air Safety, challenges facing
TMC’s in the corporate arena and e-ticketing to name but
a few. Diners Club is proud to be a gold sponsor of an institution
which promotes the following goals:
To provide access to information on global trends, industry
developments and best practices thereby enabling members to
maximise their contribution to the profitability of their organisation
through effective management of their travel spend;
To promote skills development in travel management focusing
on, but not limited to, planning and negotiating product knowledge
in the inter-related sectors of air, ground transportation and
hotel accommodation.
The day was insightful and left the delegates with a greater
understanding of the direction the business travel market is
taking and how to navigate it successfully in the future.
