New trading requirements in Africa |
Due to constant market challenges regarding risk, Diners
Club reviewed its card processing procedures to ensure a safer
transacting environment. The manual paper vouchers will no
longer be accepted for processing in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda,
Angola, Mozambique, Malawi and Zambia. Do also note that we
cease to trade in Zimbabwe.
As from 1 January 2009, the new e-mail billing settlement
process will be implemented, and the Diners Club card transactions
deposited at your branch for processing will no longer be
accepted.

For processing of payment and settlement:
• All Diners Club card transactions must be authorised,
with an authorisation code to ensure processing.
• Authorisation can be obtained from +27 11 358 8500
(office hours) or 0860 DINERS (346377) 24 x 7.
• The original signed sales vouchers must be kept for
a period of 18 months for query purposes.
• The card transaction details must be completed on
the template attached and sent to africamerchants@dinersclub.co.za.
• After receipt of the summary, payment will reflect
in your banking account within 5-7 business days.

Replacement of Point of Sale Devices
Please be advised that as from 18 October 2008, Point of Sale
devices, in alignment with the National Payment System in Namibia
will be replaced.
This change will delay the settlement period. As opposed to
one day settlement period, settlement will now be delayed from
overnight credit to three days.
We confirm that it is not the intention of Diners Club to pass
on the costs associated with the POS device upgrades to our
merchants. The upgrades will be done at no additional costs.

| Easy ways of spotting a fraudulent Diners Club
Card include: |
- Look for the Diners Club Double ‘D’ on the
bottom right-hand corner on the front of the card;
- There should be a distinctive world map background on
the front of the card;
- Check that the back of the card shows a Diners Club hologram;
- The card number must be repeated on the signature panel
on the back of the card;
- A three digit C.V.V. number should appear on the signature
panel on the back of the card;
- A magnetic strip should be present at the back of the
card.

To provide you and your customers with a better
service kindly send your billing forms for processing to us
on a regular basis.
When sending Diners Club your manual billing forms, please include
an adding-machine slip with the breakdown of the subtotals of
all the vouchers deposited in the same envelope. Our Finance
Department, who process all payments, often have trouble reading
the handwriting on the manual billing forms. Your assistance
will ensure we receive important information, such as the total
amount of the transaction, accurately.
