Update Africa

New trading requirements in Africa

Due to constant market challenges regarding risk, Diners Club reviewed its card processing procedures to ensure a safer transacting environment. The manual paper vouchers will no longer be accepted for processing in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Angola, Mozambique, Malawi and Zambia. Do also note that we cease to trade in Zimbabwe.

As from 1 January 2009, the new e-mail billing settlement process will be implemented, and the Diners Club card transactions deposited at your branch for processing will no longer be accepted.

For your conveneniece, you may download a pro-forma Billing Form and Merchant Update Form here:

Replacement of Point of Sale Devices

Please be advised that as from 18 October 2008, Point of Sale devices, in alignment with the National Payment System in Namibia will be replaced.

This change will delay the settlement period. As opposed to one day settlement period, settlement will now be delayed from overnight credit to three days.

We confirm that it is not the intention of Diners Club to pass on the costs associated with the POS device upgrades to our merchants. The upgrades will be done at no additional costs.

Fraud prevention tips.

Easy ways of spotting a fraudulent Diners Club Card include:
  1. Look for the Diners Club Double ‘D’ on the bottom right-hand corner on the front of the card;
  2. There should be a distinctive world map background on the front of the card;
  3. Check that the back of the card shows a Diners Club hologram;
  4. The card number must be repeated on the signature panel on the back of the card;
  5. A three digit C.V.V. number should appear on the signature panel on the back of the card;
  6. A magnetic strip should be present at the back of the card.

To provide you and your customers with a better service kindly send your billing forms for processing to us on a regular basis.

When sending Diners Club your manual billing forms, please include an adding-machine slip with the breakdown of the subtotals of all the vouchers deposited in the same envelope. Our Finance Department, who process all payments, often have trouble reading the handwriting on the manual billing forms. Your assistance will ensure we receive important information, such as the total amount of the transaction, accurately.
