What is the process when paying for goods
with my Diners Club Card? |
On presenting your Diners Club Card when paying
for goods, it is swiped through an EDC terminal. The terminal
automatically checks the card’s expiry date, and whether
or not the card appears on the latest “hot- card“
list. The purchase amount, and if it is an ordinary purchase
or budget account transaction, is then entered. The Diners Club
member simply signs the voucher printed by the terminal. (Please
bear in mind that the copy must be kept for your records.)
If you have a dispute with a charge at a local establishment,
then Diners Club International will request a copy of the voucher
directly from the establishment. The waiting period can be up
to 15 working days.
No response after 15 working days will result in a charge back
(members account will be provisionally credited with disputed
amount) until the establishment provides a copy of the signed
sales slip.
Once a copy of the signed slip has been received and it proves
to be a valid charge the member will be charged R40 for this
copy request. |
Why do some establishments have to request
/ check for authorisation? |
| For security reasons, and in order to protect
you, there are times where certain establishments will need
to authorize a particular amount. The amount and incidence of
such authorizations will vary according to the type of establishment
and the value of its merchandise. The security check is in no
way a reflection of your credit standing. |
What is my limit? I thought I had no limit? |
| Due to the increasing incidence of fraud a control
limit was recently built in for each Diners Club Card member.
The limit is calculated on the members past expenditure and
is not to inconvenience the member who is spending within his/her
normal spending pattern. Members who from time to time, may
wish to utilize their Diners Club Cards for large purchases
outside their spending pattern are requested to contact Diners
Club for prior arrangements Tel 0860-DINERS
(346377). This will avoid unnecessary delays at the time
of making the purchase. |
How do I change my details when I have had
a change of address? |
| In the case of an address change, rather than
contacting us by phone and also for security reasons, kindly
notify Diners Club in writing on fax 011 358 8631 or contact
our Help Line, by clicking here. |
